The Orthodontic Treatment Timeline

Your orthodontic treatment can take anywhere from a few months to a few years to complete, depending on the severity of your misalignment and your treatment option. Our orthodontist will examine your teeth and give you an estimate of your timeline prior to your treatment. Your treatment will involve several steps:

Planning Your Treatment

Your orthodontist will take digital X-rays of your bite in our Arlington office. These images will help our orthodontist plan out the best route to guide each tooth to its ideal alignment.

Begin Treatment

Depending on your treatment, your orthodontist will either place your braces or provide you with your first set of Invisalign aligner trays.

Attend Checkups

With the help of your orthodontist, your teeth will slowly come into alignment; however, you will have to attend regular checkups with our orthodontist so she can tighten your braces or provide you with new aligner trays, as well as ensure your treatment is working as it should without problems.

Maintaining Your Results

Following orthodontic treatment, a retainer will be necessary to hold your teeth in their new position while the bone heals around them. You may have to wear your retainer for several hours each day and every night indefinitely.

Am I Too Old for Orthodontics?

Though children can receive orthodontics starting around the age of 12 when teeth have fully erupted, many adults can benefit from treatment, too. Adults with imperfect smiles often report that they feel uncomfortable in social situations like giving presentations at work and going on dates. Orthodontics can help children and adults alike achieve straighter and healthier smiles that can boost their confidence and improve their oral health. If you're an adult who's uncomfortable with the idea of wearing braces, we encourage you to ask our orthodontist about Invisalign.

A great Dental experience with Smile Designer.  Great energy and engagement with the staff.  Prompt, thorough discussions about the services. The best dental group I have been to and I wish I would have found them sooner. Love the atmosphere and the care they give to each patient. I will always come here.

Very good experiences with this office! I went for a cleaning then made another appointment for a consultation to get my retainer re-fitted and both appointments were very efficient. Dr Hae Lim Ji was so nice and very knowledgeable. I felt like she explained things better than I’ve ever experienced at other dentist offices which I appreciated. I don’t dread going to this dentist!!

Why Choose an Orthodontist
INSTEAD OF A DENTIST?

Specialized Education

In addition to completing four years of general dentistry training, an orthodontist must undergo training specific to the field of orthodontics.

Advanced Treatment

Orthodontists are dentists who specialize in tooth and jaw alignment, so they can plan and oversee leading-edge orthodontic treatments even if you have severe malocclusion.

Exemplary Results

Their advanced training and understanding of how to align the teeth and jaws can result in optimal results when you choose an orthodontist like Dr. Ahn for your treatment.

Paying for Treatment

Many insurance plans contribute to the cost of orthodontics such as braces and Invisalign as they can prevent many dental concerns. Our friendly staff will help patients maximize their benefits. Our Arlington office also offers financing options through CareCredit® to help patients pay for any out-of-pocket costs, so treatment can easily fit into a patient's budget.
